I'm interested in buying a 92 Ford 655C backhoe loader. Somewhere I remember hearing Ford had a problem with the crankshafts on engines produced in the 90"s. Does anyone know what year and what models had problems. Any opinions in general with this machine is appreciated. Thanks, Frank

I looked into a backhoe when I start building. I talked with a man that rebuilt the hoes here in the south. He had vast experience with the hoes and claimed that the 555 was an excellent machine. He had given up rebiulding JD, Case etc. concentrating in the 555. The 655 were not quite as good, but I am not sure why now. I do not recall he said anything about the engine, I thought it was transmissions.
If you get an Heavy equipment trader for AL (MS, LA, GA) he normally has adds for 555 in it. Certainly worth a talk with him if you can find him. ....

Carlos: I bought manuals for my Ford compact through a New Holland dealer. I'm not certain but I don't think New Holland supports Ford industrials but it might worth a try.
There also may be information about manuals on the New Holland site. If New Holland supplies it's Ford tractor manuals through an independent publisher there's a chance that the publisher acquired rights for the industrial manuals along with the tractor manuals. The downside is that even if a publisher is found, there can be long waits for a new printing for manuals that aren't in stock.
You might post on the Ford Board at Yesterday's Tractors (YTMAG). Discussion about the Ford industrials is fairly common over there. ....
